Perth City Rottnest Swim Nutrition Talk

“Eating your way to Rottnest” – Plus a Q&A session with experienced Rotto swimmers
Our Perth City Swim Club presents sports dietitian Roslyn Soanes who will tell you what to eat and drink when you swim to Rottnest.
Ideal for solos, duos and teams.
Followed by a Q&A session with experienced Rotto swimmers (who will be there? You’ll have to turn up to find out!!!) to give you some ideas on things like:
• Training programs leading up to the swim
• Logistics of getting yourself, paddler, boat/skipper, land support crew in the right places & doing the right things
• Sign language used by paddlers to communicate with swimmer – e.g. obstacles, where paddler is positioned in relation to swimmer, distance swum/distance to go etc.
• Prevention of cold- Use of lanolin/wool fat/vaseline/zinc/sunscreen
• Drink breaks/times/amounts
• Roles of paddler/skipper/crew/land crew
• Sea sickness medication/anti inflammatories
• Tapering – how much & when
• Open water swim experience & use of Open Water series as preparation
• How the swimmer finds the paddler who finds the boat….
• What do swimmers do with their clothes & car keys??
